All it is....Is G.M.'s 3 digit Code for Identifying the Engine's.....Engine Codes ......LS1....LS5.....LS6....LS7.....LT1....LT-1....L98 and so on.....they are G.M's way of Identification.
So....a LS1 is a....5.7L GEN III V8 ENGINE.....the Engine Code's are RPO Code's which stands for Regular Production Option....and these RPO Codes are what your Truck came with from the Factory.....from what size engine to the color of your Interior,
