I really want to change my exhaust on my 2007 new body style silverado. its the 5.3 engine and it cuts back to 4 cyl from 8 when cruising. Now the confusion, I have been told if you put on dual exhaust it will sound like a helicopter when it goes from 8 to 4. So with that said what are my options, do you have to get a tuner to turn this feature off? Can I just cut off the muffler, please help. hopefully this makes sense. I have always had true duals on my other trucks and this truck has been quiet way to long. thanks

Yes they do sound funny when there running in the 4cyl. mode. A Diablo Preditor can be used to turn off the DOD, plus you can adjust your LongTremFuelTrims (LTFT's) this helps with mpg's, throttle response and all around performance. Plus you have many other mods you can do with it.

I installed a Magnaflow Duel exhaust on my '10 GMC Sierra with the 5.3L and Variable Valve Timing. When in V-4 mode, I do notice a deeper thrum in the exhaust noise that reminded me more of a prop plane at cruising speed. I will say though that with the system I had installed, the sound change is very subtle, and not that loud. After working closely around aircraft for a good 3 years on a carrier, I do find the sound quite soothing!

Ive got the 5.3 in an 07 new body with no muffler and I love the sound. It's not too bad in the city but on the highway youll get used to the sound of v4 mode. if you drive hard you wont even notice it!

alabama I love your truck btw. So do you have true duals or is it split after cats and then straight pipes. if straight pipes does it throw any warning lights?
