Brand new to the forum. i have a few questions im looking to ask and hope to get some answers, hopefully you guys can help. I bought my 1998 Chevrolet C1500 Extended Cab Pickup last October and have since had to do some major work under the hood (replace the heads, valves, gaskets, re-build the transmission...) and I think i am finally to a point where not too much more can go wrong on it as far as major repairs. Luckily my father is a fleet manager at a GMC Dealership so I am able to have my truck worked on by his techs for cost and a little extra on the side for their time. Lately i have been doing some exterior things like replacing the headlights and installing HID's, replacing the parking lights and turn signals with white LED's, replacing the tail lights with LED Tail Lights, replacing the 3rd brake light lens and installing white LED's, replacing the grille and shell with a Street Scene Mesh Grille... The last 3 major things i would like to do to the exterior are:
A) paint the truck Matte Black
B) get some new wheels
C) Replace the awkward looking rectangular mirrors with Extendable Mirrors.
This leads me to my first question which I hope you guys can help me with. I am looking to get some of the duel glass extendable mirrors or maybe even just some nice looking mirrors that are more of a larger square (kinda like that are on the newer Ford F-150's) rather the awkward looking rectangular mirrors that I have now (which to me just look too wide and not tall enough). Does anyone know of any mirrors out there that might work for me and what Im looking for? I ordered the CIPA Extendable Towing Mirrors and got them, however they are HUGE and will look like Dumbo ears unless im towing a trailer. The CIPA Mirrors are 10"x10" Mirrors, which is a little too big for my liking. As mentioned, im looking to get a little smaller mirror that is not so wide, but tall like the mirrors that come on newer model Silverado's with the separate blind spot mirror on the bottom.
I did find some mirrors that fit a 1999-2002 Chevrolet Silverado that are extendable duel mirrors but I am not sure if I will be able to mount them on my truck. Anyone know if it can be done without too much modifications? You can see them here: http://monsterautoparts.com/CHEVROLET/SILVERADO/chevrolet_silverado_towing_mirrors_telescopic.htm (scroll down about 3/4 of the way down the page to item number: 1332-3056B - 1999-2002 Chevrolet Silverado Towing Mirror Pair).
Thanks in advance for any help with the mirrors for my truck.
