GMC Topkick Ironhide

This was from the Transformers movie (or at least inspired, I forget).

DSCF0004.jpg Here is my 2005 Chevy Kodiak 4500 4x4 w/ Duramax and Allison 5 Speed tranny. It is hooked to my 2006 Brooks Brothers 26' tag that weighs 23,000# loaded. We make our own aluminum flatbeds in house so we make sure they get made to haul serious weight. Love it!

And the second is a Kodiak that we got about 4 or 5 years ago.1999 Kodiak C-8500 View attachment 51302 Both have been great trucks and never let us down.

Yes, I'll have it at Road Atlanta next month. I've got a Miata race car now.

I may be selling the Topkick ambulance soon. Let me know if you know anyone who might be interested. It's got about 145,000 miles on it now.

1990 gmc topkick. Bought it for $5,000. Currently doing engine and tranny work on it then moving to the body work later. Looking to put a dually pickup bed on the back with a small sleeper behind the cab. (Not sure yet) Here she is sitting at the mechanics shop awaiting new spark plugs and a few re wires under the TBI. Has a 366 v8 gas engine with an Allison 545. Runs great.

I thought '90 started the newer body style from what you have. Mine is an '89 (same bodystyle as yours) and I thought that was the last year for the big grille.

Here's mine. 1989 TopKick. A Mike Powell original.

I seen that truck from Mike Powell. He belongs to the same FB group I do. Is that the newest one he posted about he completed? You are correct about the grill thing. My truck is a 1990 but it was built in 1989 as a incomplete chassis and truck was completed and titled in 1990 so its a 1990 but when i get replacement parts I look up parts for a 1989. The truck was a Heavy Rescue/Medic Truck so it had Wheeled Coach box and other emegerncy equipment and extra crap added to the motor thats not normal like dual a/c compressors, dual alternators, engine driven air compressor on a non air brake. Semi truck air bags, Marmon-Harrington All Wheel Drive Conversion, etc.

Somewhere I read they stayed with older cab & tall square hood for the big diesels. Mine is a V8, I can't see that they needed the big hood, but maybe the tall 6 cylinder diesels needed height, or length a V8 wouldn't.

That, or GM had extra stuff in a warehouse & wanted to use it up. GM does that with model changes.

Yes, it's the last one Mike built. It is now on his website as the 1989 Ex-Ryder truck in the "SOLD" section.
I really liked the red '83 TopKick he currently has for sale, but it didn't have air and, in Florida, that was a necessity. So, he started searching for one with A/C and finally found this one.

Fuc-king Beautiful Truck Man!

Today I noticed that an old retired firetruck that's been sitting at least 5 years in the same spot on a farm near me is a GMC TopKick!

UH OH..... Now I know where there is one and I know for a fact that it's for sale from where its sitting.... in the "for sale" section of this guys farm.

LOL
