Hey guys,

Was looking at some accessories and one that I ran across was a halo headlight upgrade. I think they look pretty cool but dont know what actual improvement it gives. Also if it is hard to install. Also ran across led tail lights. Are they worth it? I know my reverse lights are kinda dim do they give any additional light output? Any info greatly appreciated!

I have seen many and also spoke with the Co's the only ones with a bright Halo are Anzo they use CCFL halos while most other Co's use a single bulb and try to get the light around the whole thing.. The projectors in the midle are also hard to aim right.. As for tails.. Check out IPCW. I got the Fiberoptic/LED ones on my Av and Love the look...

adampaul1964 - I upgraded my bulbs as well cost a little over 100 bucks for my new bulbs. What bulb did you end up going with if you can remember.
enkeiavalanche - I was looking at some ipcw's but didnt want to cash out 300 bucks for them to not really change anything. Do they get a lot brighter? Do you have any photos of what they look like on your vehicle. The pictures I have seen seam to all be in perfect lighting. I want a real image of how they look if possible.

Thanks for the info both of you!

I also have Halo Projector headlights and L.E.D. Tail lights. They are a good bit brighter and the overall look is way better compared to the stock housings. If you wanna upgrade all at one time would prob be best but will cost around $900 for Headlights, tail lights, and third brake light all together on lightining on my truck has been 1,100 and still gonna do more it get's quiet costly!

The bulbs I used are the Nokya Stage II Arctic White bulbs, 80 watt lo's, 100w hi's and 100w in the fogs. I've posted a couple of times about them, I guess I should just do a thread about them! They do get hotter but I've never lost a harness in any of the G.M. trucks I've used them in. I did have to replace the fog harness with a 9005 hi beam harness, the 37 watt stock harness cant handle the 9005 bulb. The Nokya's put out a whiter, brighter light and with the hi beam fogs they really light up the whole road.
I also added PIAA 3157 bulbs to my backups and DRL's

enkeiavalabch - thanks for the pics the reverses definitely look brighter.

rockstarchevy81 - How hard is the instal for the hid's? I have heard they require a seperate switch for them. If this is the case I would have to bring it in and have someone do it for me. I would hate to screw the wiring up.

adampaul1964 - damn those are bright! I will have to look into doing something like that. How hard was it switching out the harness? I might be interested in doing that instead. And will definitely look into the piaa bulbs in back.

The Hid's i got installed buy a buddy but the HID kit comes with everything you need. The only thing is you have to buy the High/Low beams separate. My halo projectors didn't come with them so i just bought the low beams and aimed them right and it being lifted it doesn't blind people like a stock headlight housing would and the projector's has a solid beam and not reflecting everywhere blinding people. That's why most people say to get Hid's in Projector's that's what they are made for compared to stock housings they ccan blind other drivers and could get sued if you make someone crash!

The bulbs I have in now arent terrible but I drive through the woods a lot and deer are always out on those roads. Hard to see unless I have my brights on with the fogs.

If your going to get HIDs, I would recommend NOT putting them in the stock headlight housings. I ran with HIDs in the stock housings and never had a problem with cops but other motorists were not appreciative of the bright light scatter blinding them. Not so much the younger drivers but older drivers seemed to be affected the most.

I upgraded to Halo projectors simply for that reason alone. The light is not brighter but more focused and projectors have a beam "cutoff" so that oncoming drivers are not blinded.

Just to re-iterate, the projectors look pretty good in the NNBS trucks, but in my opinion the ones that are available for the NBS look like a$$, they look cheap and ricey. The harness replacement is pretty basic, cut off the old, butt splice the 2 wires, use heat shrink to seal, wrap them up in electrical tape and then put them back in the wire loom and tape them up again. Now you can run 100watt hi-beam bulbs in your fogs! And here's a pic of the backups, PIAA 3157.

I agree the projector's for the NBS don't look good enough to spend the money on them compared to the NNBS.

I have LED 3157 bulbs in my backup lights and they're much brighter than the stock bulbs, it was about ~$20-$25 for the pair if I remember correctly.

Yeah i believe that is a good upgrade too. I'm thinking about buying the Recon Projector Reverse lights for my L.E.D. Tail lights. I havent heard anyone having them but should be pretty easy to do myself?

Yeah it should be just like installing any other set of auxiliary lights, but since they're reverse lights you'll probably have to tap into the reverse light wire so that they light up when you back up. Not too difficult.

aftermarket halos with cheap projectors have horrible light output not to mention the cutoff lines, a good place to start is theretrofirsource.com you can geta good mirimoto kit for about 250 or so and even get some halos of course you will have to retro fit these into your headlights but light output will be awesome and you wont have the glare from just putting hids in the headlights

The NNBS are the only goos looking projector's out there on the market for the GM trucks. The one's i have are really good quality and good fitment but they were pricey. They have a painted black housing with the ccfl halo rings along with led's down the sides and 3 led's between the halos. The ones i have and the recons are the best quality but you will pay around $400 for both! The light output is better than stock and i installed the notto se 10,000k hid kit in low beams and also had them aimed for no blinding people sine my truck is lifted. The projector's will not have a glare with hid's actually hid's are made to be in projector's. The hid's in stock housings have too many reflectors and will blind people due to scatter.
