Hey boys (and girls)... I'm in need of some assistance once again...

I have a 2000 Silverado 4x4 with 162,000 miles. I just had to take a trip home to GA (I'm in NC). The transmission started to shift pretty hard from 1st to 2nd. I checked my fluid, and it was a bit low, so I topped it off with Dexron III. I topped it off and the hard shifting seemed to stop. I drove it about 300 miles with no problems, though most of those were interstate miles. I drove it around several other times on my trip, with no problems. Yesterday, I'm heading home, and I notice the hard shifting again. I check the fluid and everything is fine. I cut the truck off and pumped gas. As soon as I started again... Smooth shifting again...

Strange, huh?

Any ideas?

I just went through this, The transmission is shifting hard because it is calling for full line pressure..
something inside is making it hard to shift, most likely the bushing that supports the center shaft of the trany.
it wears down and wipes everything out.
It may shift hard like that for about a year before it totally fails, I had 2 4L80E transmissions do this to me.

Completely rebuilt with a TC was $2400

sorry for the bad news

No worries on being the bearer of bad news! I've learned that you just can't get too upset in life over things like transmissions... There's just way more important things to worry about...

You don't think it could be one of the solenoids? I was reading up on that and it sounded plausible.

Thanks so much for the help.
