Welcome to the club Ray! Well I've been there n done that. It was my ignition switch. The tps would not allow it to shift out of first or it would delay shifting. The tps can be easily tested. I don't know how to test the ignition switch. What is happening is your tranny is loosing power. it could be any of the following... ignition switch, tranny plug, prndl fuse in the end of the dash or the pink wire that runs from the main plug that the ignition switch plugs into that runs to the fuse box and then off to the tranny. I have a thread on here called limp mode = failed ignition switch or something like that.

Have a good one!

That pink wire I was talking about that comes from he fuse terminates on pin E at the tranny plug. It brings the only 12v positive connection to the tranny, all the other wires are negative connections that turn the different functions/solenoids on or off.

You could test the voltage on pin E to see if you have any, use a small drill bit n simply ground out to the case. It should be the same voltage as the battery, any different n it wont work.

If no voltage check the fuse. Actually I guess you should check the prndl (maybe) fuse 19 in the end of the dash first. If its good check for voltage. If no voltage or weak voltage them the problem lies between the fuse and the ignition switch.

Good luck!
