i was getting an alignment today and the guy at the shop said they found a slight crack in my swaybar on my suburban. He said this is common as they made them hollow to save on money, is this true?? Is this really common, I have never heard of this nor read anythig about it on this website. If this is true does anyone that work for GM now what a replacement would be??

A lot of factory sway bars from various manufacturers are hollow, they still work better than none at all. You'll have to look into the aftermarket to find a solid one, and even some aftermarket ones are hollow too. I think Hotchkis and Hellwig make solid ones but I could be wrong, you'd have to do a search and read the fine print.

One other reason for hollow bars is weight savings. Wifes Trailblazer has a hollow front factory bar and a hollow rear Hotchkis and it works well. The Hotchkis bar is for a "SS" Trailblazer.

Does someone have an actual part number? I dont need anything more then stock. Everything I find at local parts stores is the front bar.

I have the Hellwig front sway bar and its solid, not hollow like the stock one. Definitely a noticeable improvement in handling, and not all that expensive either.
