I will be getting some 18" ultra mako rims off CL and they have p285/60/18 toyo open country a/t s on them and the owner says they have 55-60% tread life left, does anybody know how many miles I can squeeze out of them?

P.s. I do not burn rubber and my commute is less than 25 miles Max daily if not zero and maybe 1-2 times a week over 75 miles.

Thanks

I'm really not too sure man i know being a all-terrain they should last a REALLY long time. I am purchasing some 325/60/18 which is a 33 13.50 and they are Nitto terra grapplers also off craigslist. They guy said they have 40% tread left and i'm getting a damn good deal he said $100 for all 4 now only $60! I will be picking them up sometime tomorrow. Either way you dont drive many miles so if you arent spending allot on the tires then you should save money and allot of miles with no driving allot and having all-terrains!

That's kind of a loaded question Centex. First what is the guy basing his 55-60% tread left on? Did he measure them with a tread depth indicator & compare the measurement to original tread depth spec?
If so, & you watched him do it, then good, but if not then you should do this.
Also different drivers get different total miles from an exact same set of tires because of driving style & driving conditions, so your best judgement of the number of miles that you get out of a set of tires compared to other drivers will be your best judge. There are a lot of sites online where people rate tires according to the miles they have gotten out of different types of tires, the vehicle they were mounted on & the driving conditions they were subjected to & miles can vary by as much as 15,000 to 20,000 miles for the same exact set of tires.

Sorry so long fellas.

Stephan: the owner said there was 55-60% tread left when gauged by discount tire. I completely understand that different driving styles equal different results on diff vehicles with the same set of tires.
