How to lower SUV??

I have a 2004 Chevy Tahoe 2wd, factory 16 inch rims. I just want to lower the rear a few inches, I was going to do this with lowering springs. So my questions are...
1) what brand of lowering springs?
2) what will I need to keep a somewhat factory ride (shock extenders, new shocks)?
3) How hard is it to change the springs?
4) How much and in what way will the Tahoe ride differently?
5) Is 3 inches too low, will I bottom out any?
Any help and information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Check out Belltech.com Great stuff, have a 1.5"f and 3.0" rear lowering kit on my wifes '05 trailblazer since '05 and no problems at all. She likes the ride better than stock, its a little stiffer than stock but she likes it. They have simular kits for the Tahoes.
