I need help with 05 Silverado...

I am planning to purchase A 2005 chevrolet Silverado. Problem is the only way to get in the truck is with the keyless entry remotes. I asked the owner why the key don't open or turn when insert in the key hole? He did not know either. He told me he could never open with the key. He bought it like that too. Now, My question is could it be the lock itself is rusted or is there something to do with resetting some computer or switches? Or Maybe there is two key? One for the ignition and one for the door, cause he only had one.

Any Idea or solution will help me .

If the truck is still under warrenty, bring it to a dealer. The truck should open with both the remote & key. The only tthing is, when you lock it with the remote, you need to open it with the remote. Says so in your OM. If you use the key after locking it with the remote, the horn will start to go off. TRUST ME! I KNOW! It does on the Canadian models anyway.

Sounds to me like the guy never used the key any now the lock won't turn because its stiff and needs to be lubed. If he you have a problem with the locks on a new truck, wouldn't you bring it in and get checked. Hope you had the truck inspected
Keyless entry is probably wired to ignition and factory alarm. Keyless entry is usually standard on newer Chevys. A dealer can probably get you a remote for a fee. They run about $50 a remote.
Do the door locks not turn or do they turn and not unlock the door?

1. If the key does not turn in the lock, you probably have the wrong key for the lock. Happens alot when the ignition switch goes bad and the switch is replaced and the locks are not changed to match.

2. If the key turns the lock and the lock is not unlatching, then probably a disconnected lock linkage. You can pull the door panels to fix that. This can happen when a slim jim is used to unlock a door and pops the lock/linkage loose.

Most likely it is the 1st issue. You can have a locksmith make you a key to match the door lock, and use one key to open the doors and one to start the truck with. Or you could have the locks switched to match the ignition switch.

Let us know what you find.
