I would like to know what color wire hopefully located under the dash, which I could spice into that would power a wireless, dash mounted, back up camera and a dash mounted, video traffic recorder? I would want them to only operate with the ignition system. I have a 2007 Chevy Suburban 1500. Would I also have to run them through separate inline fuses?

Thanks for any help.

You probably should put an inline fuse in if it doesn’t already have in it, the camera.

Look at any of the multiple fuse boxes, I believe there is still one under the dash on your truck. There should be a couple of open spade terminals in there that have IGN. On them, meaning they are only on when the ignition is on.

Edit to add you should test the terminal with a test light to be sure. I have been known to be wrong once or twice.

If that doesn't work, I know for a fact that there's an ignition switched line going to the radio. There should be 2 power wires going there, a constant and a switched, so doublecheck that. Depending on what the current draw for your toys are, I'd say you could possibly run them off of that line, but I'd much rather suggest that you use a relay and pull off of a nice juicy constant somewhere.

could always tap it off the cigerette lighter since it's always hot unless they changed that in the 07's

your 07 should have the interior fuse box on the side of the dash, only visible when you open the door. and theres about 3 IGN fuses, one of them only gives power for about 30 seconds, then it goes off, make sure you dont tap into thisone, i talkk from experience and headaches.
