Hello, my name is John and I live in a small town in Newfoundland, Canada. I have a 2001 Silverado 5.3 Z71. I have had this truck since it was new back in Feb 2001. Currently it has just over 107 000 kms on it.

But i have run into a problem. My driver's side power window works, but only sometimes. If I unplug the motor it works for a bit but then it just stops moving randomly. And if I go to a certain point down the window, it stops altogether. I have determined that is not the switch is the problem

Does anybody have any suggestions on how to fix this problem or what to replace.

Hope to be in further discussions,

John

Welcome! Good luck with the window, I agree with the "ground" theory.

Hey John from the rock LOL

You might need a new motor but first you have to pop the interior door skin off and investigate. (Watch those plastic clips they break easy)

I vote for the window motor, thats a classic symptom of one going out.

I used to visit Gander, Newfoundland about twice a month a few years back. Pretty country in the summer, I cant say I really liked it much during the winter, to much snow for me.

I forgot to say how I found this site. Basically, I was driving my truck and then the window went down all by itself. My son told me about this forum and I joined up. All I did was search "silverado forums" on google. I'm quite glad i did!!!!
