K&N cold air intake

2195 Views 4 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  RockHead
Hi all,
I have an 04 suburban 4x4 5.3l.
I was wondering if anyone out there has installed a K&N cold air and could tell me if it helped mileage at all. I do little to no towing and only put 5k on a year.
Any comments would be appreciated.
The low mileage is killing me at the pump.
thanks

A Hypertech programmer will probably get you better mileage. There are some posts about this.
The K&N will help a little. Exhaust will help a little also. Intake, Exhaust, and the programmer will show the most gain.
Got an '04 2wd with a 5.3. I put an "air raid" intake with a TB spacer. I up'd the exhaust from a 2.5" to a 3" and did a programmer. The best milage I've gotten was 20.5 mpg with about an 85/15% highway/city mix. But don't forget the extra 40 - 50 hp. Worth every penny! Hope this helps you decide.
