Had a new driver side door latch installed yesterday and now my remote door lock/unlock does not work. I know how to program this but I've also noticed that when I turn the ignition off, now the radio quits playing as if it is straight wired to the ignition switch. I spoke to the technician that installed the new latch and they said that they only installed the latch and did nothing to the programming. The technician is a very reputable collision center that at one time, did all of the local Chevy dealership's body work. Anyone have any ideas as to what could have happened before I start any programming resets? Don't want to do any additional harm if I don't have to.

I didn't see the year model of your vehicle so yours may be different than my 2005. Even if the tech didn't intentionally reprogram something it's hard to say what might have happened.

Rather than performing a global reset I would go through the Driver Information Center (that's the interface on my 2005) and check the parameters one by one. I spent a few minutes doing this on my 2005 and was surprised to see how easy it is to change parameters and how easy it might be to accidentally change a parameter.

My owners' manual does a good job describing the settings found in the DIC. Hopefully yours has a similar interface and is easy to check.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. It is a 2006. Yes I'm familiar with the DIC. Just thought someone might be familiar with the symptoms before I go into it and checked/reset my parameters. I'm just now wondering if the settings may have been altered when they unplugged the harness.

If the radio goes off with the key being turned off, the technician did not install the latch correctly.
There is a switch on the latch assembly that operates when the door is opened, this switch is the signal to turn on the interior light and to turn off the radio.
What is not right, I don't know without looking; but there is a problem with the switch, or the switch wiring.

Just checked the door. When opened the interior light comes on and the ding donger dings. They quit when the door is closed. Bought the latch from a GM dealership. Not a Chinese knock off! This whole exercise is strange to me. Thought I was getting a basic plug and play module.

They sell something like 3 different latch setups for that year truck. Some for keyless entry some for trucks without keyless. Did the dealer use your vin to find the part? If they did and you are sure it is the correct part maybe the tech knocked a relay or wire loose when he had the door apart

Thanks Pikey. Yes we used the VIN for the latch part. I just returned from a GM dealer where they connected their diagnostic computer and now not only does the radio go off when the ignition is turned off, now the remotes don't work at all and can't be reprogrammed. Have to manually lock & unlock the drivers door and the passenger door lock has to be manually actuated by reaching across the seat. Tech there says I need new control module that is in passenger door and that was probably the culprit all the time. As you can imagine, I'm scared to death to replace it. Everything was working fine 80-90% of the time. In the other 10-20%, when you opened the drivers door, the radio wasn't going off and you would have to go around and open the passenger door for it to go off. In two days and several dollars latter, repairmen have destroyed the remotely actuated power lock system on my truck. No telling what will not work if I replace the module.

Body control modules can be a scary thing to deal with. I know guys that have had them replaced and reprogrammed and they never had any issues after that. I also know guys that have replaced them and had nothing but problems with them. If it were me, I would replace it. You could always have an after market remote starter / keyless entry installed. But if the locks will not work with the dirt switch then that is not going to solve your issues

I am with rayvoy on the install of that door switch sensor.
what body work did they do ? any welding ? did they disconnect the battery when working the vehicle ?
dealer used body shops are not a thing that would make these shops any better ..I will stop right here !
