I have just put an Edelbrock carb and an aftermarket throttle/kickdown cable bracket on my truck. The bracket is adjustable but I don't know where to set the kickdown. Should there be any kind of tension on the cable at all when it's at idle? Or should there be a gap between the slot and the ball stud? If so, how much?
Thanks.

What year/make/model truck? If it's a let-80s to early 90s, that's not a kickdown cable. It's a TV cable and will cause your transmission to kill itself within a few miles if it's not properly adjusted

I recommend you find someone who knows how to adjust it correctly for you because as mentioned above if it is a TV cable and you do not adjust it correctly say good bye to your transmission.

You can Google how to adjust the TV cable on a 700R4 (if it is indeed one) and see how to do it. As mentioned above, too loose and you'll smoke the trans. It's always better to have it too tight than too loose, YMMV
