Hello everyone! I have an 06 Suburban 2500 4x4 with the 8.1L. New noise started recently but only when I punched it from a dead stop. If I punch it there’s a knocking noise or bang coming from the left wheel area. If I pull out normal there’s no noise. I thought maybe the torque loosened a body mount but they’re all tight. Again it’s only when torqued and it makes a banging noise. Any ideas?

You might be onto something. Another thing I noticed lately is that when I pull out sometimes it feels like the drivetrain moves before the body if you know what I mean? Almost like the drivetrain moves before the frame and body move just briefly.

If the front and the rear are both worn, there can be a lot of play.

BTW, change both while you have it apart.

Update. So it turned out to not be anything major. Few months ago I had new front brake lines put on. The mechanic didn’t do such a great job and one of the lines wasn’t secured hardly at all. It was slapping the heat shield next to the catalytic converter when you goosed it. Thank you responding Ray!
