The glass in the left power mirror on my 04 2500HD has become loose. It jiggles when going down the road. The local Chevy dealer quoted me almost $900 to replace the entire mirror assembly. Thank you, no.

He did say I should tape it to keep from losing the glass before I can get it repaired. The glass part itself lists for almost $200.

Can the thing be repaired without replacing the whole assembly? This image appears to be the same mirror as the one I have. It has the power extend/retract feature.

Can anyone offer any suggestions? Thanks.

Does anyone know how to disassemble one of these things? How do you get the glass out in 1 piece so I can get to the guts and examine what holds it together? Thanks.

I too would like to know this as I have the same problem, but mine is just like a vibration on the right mirror that then kinda makes it look a little blurry..

I have taken these mirros off beore you need to get a small pick in behind and release the clisps in item #1 which attach it to item #2 then slid it up and off. To put it back on you just slid it down till it snaps into place. Some auto glass places can do this for you at a reasonable pirce.

Even if you get it off, what would be loose? Possible that the clips are broken?
I have looked at mine and from what I can see the glass appears to have a black plastic part attached to it and it is the glass moving around on this plastic part that is making it vibrate.... I am thinking that if I can get some sikaflex in behind to bond the plastic to the glass better it wouldnt move around as much... and I dont think that will restrict the mirror moving as its the plastic part that is attached to the motor...

Just need to work out how to do it...
