Low Cost tow mirrors?

3124 Views 16 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  StormTrooper
I use my truck a lot to pull my 23' boat, and iv finally gotten fed up with using the stock mirrors, and im looking to upgrade to bigger tow mirrors. All the mirrors iv looked at seem to be pretty costly, does anybody know of any low cost tow mirrors, I dont need fancy ones with turn signals and all that, just a regular ol' tow mirror

Check out kool vue mirrors.
I'm in the same boat you are, well, not your boat, but...you get it lol. I have a half ton with standard mirrors and I tow my camper behind, can't see behind it at all, hopefully no cops try to pull me over cause they'll have an average speed pursuit on their hands lol. I bought a cheap set of mirror extensions you stick on your mirror and they extend out a foot or so...don't waste your money, they point in the wrong damn direction and just get in the way of your existing mirror, I'm getting to the point you are, just don't want to pay the huge money to get the upgrade. I have heated/power mirrors with turn signals so the equivelent in tow mirrors would be ugly...
Like Ajarman said, Kool Vues are pretty reasonable and from my experience, great quality (so far).

Not sure what year/model your truck is, so I looked up 2007 and newer NNBS. DiscountAutoMirrors.com has them on sale right now - $68 per side for non-heated, no signals, manual; and $99 per side for power, heated, but no signal.

383man - for you if your wondering, the fully loaded tow mirror is $256 per side.

I pasted their link below.

I got my set of Kool Vue power/heat/signal tows for right about $250 before they realized how popular they are. I bought them straight from Kool Vue for like $120 each.

Nice, I guess that's not horrible, i imagined it would be more, thanks for the link man
I got my tow mirrors from a Chevy Dealership and with a 20% discount I got them for a tad over $375 and they are power/heat and signal.

for the pair? that's amazing, I never woulda thought that OEM would be cheaper than aftermarket

For the pair! The list price was $450 for the pair but got them down to roughly $375 including tax. I remember calling around about a year ago to a local dealership and they quoted me $500 a mirror. I think they have either dropped in cost a lot or maybe the computer reads out that it is for just 1 mirror, but really it is for the pair.
awesome, i'll have to look into that

only thing that sucks is i'll have to give up the electric folding option i have, the heavy duty tow mirrors don't have that option, i guess who needs it, how lazy do i need to be lol
That would make it hard for me too. I will tell you this, the tow mirrors really do take away a lot of the blind spots in daily driving. I was really amazed what all I could see once I got them set how I like them. I pulled a tandom 18 footer the other day for the father in-law and it was a wold of difference!!
definately, i have a 23 foot camper and the stock mirrors just don't do it...

Hey guys...i only have power adjust stock mirrors. 3500Hd Duramax 6.6 allison Crew Silverado.
Stock mirrors are useless. Want to upgrade to heated with turn signals(tow type) Any idea is wires might be in there? Dont care if they power fold.
My kool vue mirrors have been on my truck since 2010. No problems at all. They are exact OEM replacements. Some have reported shaking but I've had no problems. They're easy to swap DIY.
