hello peeps wondered if someone could assist me , whilst working on my beloved avalanche 5.3 vortec I noticed a metal bracket between the engine and bulk head which was resting against the bulkhead I went to touch it to see what it was related to and it’s just fell off. I found a picture on the net of it which I have attached and it is the black bracket with the white cross on it . Does anyone know what this is for and if it is important to put back. Obviously the bolt has disappeared

Kind regards

My best guess would be something for the wiring harness to attach too. My 7.4L has a few different goofy looking brackets in the same location.

Thanks for the reply mate :)

However don’t find any holes or brackets that would hold any wiring , I was wondering if it was some sort of bracket for supporting the cylinder head when removing or installing.

Jeff there's no hole in the bracket except the two on the bottom. At first I thought it was a fuel rail mount but nooo. I've seen it on two images from a Google search but never labeled.

Ha! No bud...I would think anything but...I would say you are pretty, with it. Problem with text, context is hard to follow a lot of times...I still don't have it figured out:D
