my 03 gmc 4x4 switch has a mind of its own...help... (first post here)

Hello every body, this is my first post here. I just bought a 2003 GMC Sierra 1500HD with 6.0L automatic transmission and 4x4 (on the dash).

Every time my truck sits for 10 minutes of more and then i start it... the red light is on in the 4x4 selector switch (most of the times) and some times it starts with the 4x4 high light turned on. Every time it does go in the 2wd mode when i press the switch.

My 4x4 system is working good including Auto 4WD, 2WD, 4WD High and 4WD Low.

Do I need a new switch in the dash?

Any help i can get would be great.
