Hello all. I am new to the forum. I just picked up my new 2011 Silverado 4x4 crew cab LT Z71, blue metallic yesterday. I am so excited. I have been drooling over this truck for years just waiting for gmc jimmy to finally die and now here I am. I got a great deal since I got the family discount from my grandpa plus all the incentives. I can't wait to get a bedliner and cover for it also. Any advice on owning my new silverado? Thanks

Welcome to the Club and congrats on your new ride!!! Sounds like you got a great deal. Definitely post some pics when you can.

What type of advice are you looking for? Break-in period, mods, mechanical, etc. If you can be a little more specific, it will help people give you much better advice in the areas that are of concern to you.

Welcome, Dan. And Congrats on the new truck! You definitely have to post some pictures. I'm anxious to see it.

As for advice: just take care of it. It's so easy to drive a vehicle into the ground. Make sure you stay on those oil changes and other maintenance, keep it clean, etc. and it will provide you enjoyment for much longer than you could imagine. As for specific advice... Do you have any questions regarding anything in particular?

thanks guys, ill post pics soon. I do have a specific question regarding locking wheel nuts, I was looking into the gorrila lock nuts to protect my wheels. Is 14X1.5 the correct size and should I get gorrilla spin type or is there a better type to get? Anyone who has dealt with this that can help would be appreciated! If someone has a specific part number I could look for that would be even better, thanks!

Welcome to the club, Dan. You mentioned bedliner. I would go with Line-X spray-in liner. Great stuff.

Don't lean hard or step on the bed rails as you will dent them. Get rail covers no matter what you do to the bed. Watch the paint, mine scratches if you breathe hard on it.

Looks like you got the EXACT same truck as me, all the way down to the color! I LOVE that color! I'm assuming you got the "All Star" Package truck?

Overall you should be pretty happy with it. I bought my first truck in April, and after tons of issues with it, the dealer traded it in on a new one for no charge. So I am on my second brand new 2011 Silverado. These trucks drive great on the interstate/highways, are very comfortable, and tow excellent!! They do have some issues with around town driving. Hopefully GM will get them worked out eventually. Go to your dealer directly if you have any issues. I can tell you first hand that GM's Customer Service is completely worthless, so no sense even contacting them.

One thing you have to keep in mind... Your truck is Mexican made junk, just like mine. So don't expect perfection, and you wont be disappointed. Good luck with it!

tawd, that sucks you had so many problems with a new truck, but at least you got it replaced. yes I got the all star package, convienance package and 18" wheels, looks nice and I am surpised at how "smooth" these trucks really do ride and handle. I dont need perfection I just want my truck to last, see I keep my vehicles until they die and I had been waiting for my other truck to die before i got this one, and this was the year, I hope to own this truck for 10-15 years minimum!

Yep, that's the exact truck as mine. I LOVE the look of the truck. There isn't manufacturer on the market right now that comes close to looking as nice as these Silverados'/Sierras. The newest truck I have owned before this was a 2003. So purchasing a brand new truck was a huge deal for me. I saved for a long time to be able to buy this. The first truck left me very disappointed. The second truck has been much better, and now I don't feel like I just gave away $35k!

I put side steps and a tool box on my truck. I put a GM bedliner in, but removed it when I noticed that your suppose to hold it in with self tapping screws all over the bed, and tailgate! Im not drilling a bunch of holes in my new truck!! So if you want a bedliner go with lineX or Rhinoliner. I may get it leveled at some point. I think these trucks look great stock, but there are only about 9 billion of them running around my town. So I wanted to do a few little things to make it different than the rest.
