Hey everyone I'm new to the forum and I have a problem I have a 92 k1500 Silverado 5.7 and my transmission just went. It's a manual the only problem is it was originally a automatic. I have the stamp from the transmission it's GM8679098 I typed it in Google and it comes up as a NV3500. But there so hard to find I'm not sure we're to look or if I should just replace a couple of the gears and overhaul it? Responses will be appreciated thank you

I would rebuild the unit. If you do a swap you have to deal with whether to rebuild the donor transmission, or if you would be buying a rebuilt 700R4 you may as well rebuild what you already have.

My rule is to always rebuild what is already in my vehicle unless it is not rebuildable, or I put in a new unit that is identical and keep the old one and rebuild it as a spare.
