So I took my OEM XM unit out since I dont really need it...i thought about selling it however, I have been reading that sometimes when a unit is taken out of one car/truck the head unit goes into security mode.

Some folks say that the XM brain learns the vehicle VIN making it unusable in another vehicle unless you have the dealer clear the security lock.

think the XM module has a chip in it that gets flashed with the VIN of the original vehicle and cannot be reprogrammed at a dealer. I was looking at getting a XM module out of a wrecked truck that had a subscription and trying but after reading it looked pretty hopeless

Ya I saw a mod on another forum where you cut the solder points on one of the chips to disable the vin security. Iam must gonna throw it in storage and if someone wants it just give it to them cause I think it will be some work to get it to work.
