Hello All. Have a 99 GMC Suburban K2500 4x4 7.4L. Recently had new front brakes and rotors put on. After a few months the truck pulled left when the brakes were mashed. Mechanic said I needed new calibers. Truck is still pulling left. Any thoughts?

Probably want to look at replacing the soft hoses. They corrode inside like cholesterol and eventually stop allowing fluid to flow to and from the calipers.

Did you replace the calipers as the mech indicated? Sounds like the left front one is dragging a bit and when the pads are replaced the caliper pistons are pushed back into the bore. They can move back into correct position and get stuck due to wear and also contamination of the brake fluid.

It could be a bad rotor from the shop with a hard spot in it. You could swap the rotors left to right to see if the problem follows. A lot of these rotors are Chinese now and their wear ability is suspect. Even Delco professional (which is supposedly a cut above the base stuff) is Chinese made now.

If you swap rotors with no change in the pull, swap the front tires and see if the pull is with the tire. Radials can do crazy things when the belts inside break down.

You said highway vibration when braking, usually a heat warp in a rotor.
Could be the one pulling left, if the pulling left has caused a heat build up.

I would inspect the left rotor and pads for oil/grease residue, nothing will grab a brake and harder, or faster than grease on a braking surface

Here’s the whole scoop. Needed new front shoes and rotors both sides. No issues till about 3-4 months in when she started pulling left with no shutter. Took her in last week and mechanic said rotors and shoes were fine but needed new caliber on left side and should replace right too. After replacing both front calibers she still pulled left. So he replaced both hoses on the front. After replacing hoses he “said” she then pulled right. He rebled the brakes and now she’s pulling left like before. I suspect the pulling right statement was a cover up for idk what the problem is. Asked me to bring it back tomorrow to check over some things.

Yes have trailer brakes. But remember now on one mountain trip the brakes were really hot coming down. Took a look at the rotors today and the left side is scared up but not the right. Replacing the rotors with ones that have heat disapation holes and new shoes. Taking off the new calibers they put on.

Since the calipers and hoses are newer, I wouldn't take them back off. Definitely go with the new rotors and pads and I'm willing to bet your problem goes away. If not, I would really look at the tires. Swap fronts and see if the pull moved to the other side.

It was the left rotor. Mechanic apologized for missing it. The inner half of the rotor was smooth but the outer half was scarred up. I had him put the old calibers back on to save some money. Took off the Bosch rotors and replaced them with AC Delco slotted severe duty rotors. Cost twice as much as the Bosch but I can feel much better stopping power.
