I just purchased a 1991 Chevy Suburban. It's a Silverado 2500. I have always admired the vehicles, and this one has low miles and is in great shape, I just couldn't pass it up.
It has the 454 V8 with a towing package, which as I understand includes and transmission cooler among other things. I don't really intend to tow much, but I will be taking advantage of the 9 passenger seating since I have so many kids. I have a couple of questions about the vehicle to which I thought I may find answers in this forum.
First, what's the difference between an R2500 and a V2500? I am not even sure which mine is. Also, what are a few sources of chevy OEM parts and other Chevy accessories? My 'Burban has steel wheels with hubcaps, and I would like to swap those for something else, but would prefer they be as close to OEM chevy as possible. Plus, I'd like to bring the body up a little, maybe 2 inches, and the original running boards look dated to me, I'd like to maybe put those tubular steps. One more thing, anyone who knows of quirks or issues that are peculiar to this model with these features, please enlighten me. As I said, its low miles for its age (145K original) and runs well, seems to have no problems, but if there's some quirk in it, I'd love a heads up about where to look. Thanks everyone!
