:sign0016:I'm not up on the r vs v designation. I'm pretty sure the r is for the 2wd and the v designates the 4wd. I'm old school and am used to the c vs k label. C being 2wd and k for the 4wd.
As far as better wheels, you might want to try what I did. I bought some take offs from somebody who upgraded there wheels. I got a set of 16" chevy wheels from a 2003 Tahoe with brand new Firestones including the center caps and lugs for $400. They were still in balance and I installed them myself. Check craigslist for deals on take offs in your area. Or check a chevy parts store online Chevy Truck Parts
