I purchased a 2005 Trailblazer last November. At the time of purchase I noticed that there was a discoloring in the gold of the bowtie emblem that is mounted on the tailgate, but didn't think too much of it. About a month later, the top portion of the emblem fell off. This left me with a chrome bowtie that had a strip of black double sided tape on it. I managed to get all the double sided tape off and cleaned the emblem with chrome cleaner. It doesn't look bad, but it doesn't look factory.
Since this happened, I have been looking at tailgate bowties on other 2005+ Trailblazers and noticed that it seems to be a common problem. The plastic covered gold overlay is seperating from the badge.
My question is, would this be covered under warranty or a service bulletin? I know that it wouldn't warrant a recall, but it is a design or manufacturers flaw.
Oh.. and I just noticed that my grille bowtie may be suffering from the same fate. :grrrrrr:
