I noticed my GMC Savana has exposed refrigerant lines for the rear A/C in the rear driverside wheel well. Is there supposed to be a plastic cover protecting these? I can see them getting beat to crap with stones, leaking and causing my entire A/C cooling circuit to fail.

I think I just answered this question myself looking in my Haynes manual. I don't see any wheel well covers anywhere for the back portion of the van, which I think is a really dumb design choice. I might cut up a milk jug to rig up and act as stone protection for those tubes.

I welcome other solutions, though! 117 views could mean 117 ideas :p

Expensive, but probably longer lasting...is a agricultural watering trough (mixing basin, wash tub, etc.) of thick black plastic. You'll get 2 elliptical ends out of most of them and can custom fit it in there. Should last forever.
