Hello, I am asking for some help on an Avalanche, 05 that I am looking at. I want to know about leg room in the back. I have 2 teens and in a s/cab the leg room is inadequate. Will I gain leg room for the passengers in the back half of the cab or just tough it out with a s/cab...

I own a 04 F-150 Lariat which is loaded with leather, heated seats, sunroof and don't care for the leather etc.. Leg room is more important.
Thanks in advance...

I have an '05 Crew Cab and the leg room is the same as the Avalanche, Tahoe and middle row of the Suburban. When I was shopping for a crew cab truck 5 years ago I checked out Ford, Dodge and Chevy and found the Ford and Dodge crew cabs to be severely lacking in the rear leg room dept. You could always climb in the back of each one and see for yourself, that's what I did.

admiring from afar

Right now I am admiring from afar, so to speak. To gain access to the truck will let the owner know I am interested and I am not ready to take that step.
I owned Chevy pickups for many years and my last one, a 95 Z71 was such a piece of crap I switched sides and went to Ford. The 95 was a hog, small pieces everywhere kept breaking and mileage was horrid.
I like the responce from my 2nd Ford but I am from a family of GM people, so this avl caught my eye. An 05 for 14 and under 100,000 miles and I know of nothing to look for.
I know my Ford inside out and I hope to gain knowledge from this site of the weak points to look for in this avl.
Any advise would be appreciated...

The Avalanche and my crew cab are the same from the rear doors forward, (my brother in law has an '05 Av.) I have nothing but good things to say about my ownership experience with my truck, bought it used with 18,000 on it and it now has 106,000 trouble free miles on it. I know my brother in law is happy with his Av. and has had no problems with it, although I don't know his mileage. The only thing I don't like about the Av. is the bed is very small and I'm not a fan of the all the plastic on the bed rails. I will say his does ride nice since it has coils in the rear where mine has leaf springs. Don't know his mileage, but with the 5.3 I get 14-15 city and 19-20 on the hwy.

OK! My kids aren't 6' yet but that is what I was wondering... Both my girls are "all legs" and in the super cab they are crunched. I figured the Av would be more like a crew cab and it almost looks like the seat is a bit more comfy than the bench in the super cab.
Thanks

Been in many Super Cabs.. They are like Pinto's....LOL... The Avalanche is like a Suburban.. The only other truck with more room would be a Dodge Mega Cab but it rides like Crap....

Well, I am picking up the Avalanche tomorrow. After a clean up my first thing will be to update the lights. SilverStars sounds like a good place to start.
Funny thing was, I pulled out of the dealer and drove down the road 1 mile on my test drive and pulled into a gas station to add some fuel, since it was on mt... What pulls right in behind be... another 05 silver Avalanche Z71... Now that's weird.

no cladding

Did you get a Cladded or WBH?
If "Cladding" is the plastic on the sides, then no, went without the Cladding.

There is enough plastic on it still and that will be a chore to keep it dressed out: Buy the way I ordered some 303 Aerospace Protectant yesterday for the truck (128 oz) which is currently on sale from Detailed Image for under $50. A detailer friend tells me this is what he uses and it does not run like other Protectants.

Pic's to come in a couple of days...
