Alright so it starts creeping up above 210 and then starts to get up where it's telling me to check my gauges. When we pop the hood the hose is not hot, the cap is cool.. We changed the temp sensor on top near the thermostat housing and changed the thermostat. Next will either be water pump or radiator.

Any ideas as to why this would be happening? Is there anything else electrical or parts wise I should check. Also no noise or leaks are seen or heard at all.

Any ideas? Seems like the hose takes awhile to pressurize as well. Was thinking of doing the water pump since it's only 30 bucks at Auto zone. What's weird is that it shows overheating but nothing is steaming or showing signs of an overheat condition.

head gaskets? are you losing coolant? what engine? could have a leaky radiator clogged radiator check around water pump for leaks.. my 4.3 blew a radiator it was a 93... sprayed coolant all on my windshield while driving down the highway

Dont think its head gaskets as i dont have any white smoke coming out, i do have the white vapor like every other vehicle but not white smoke excessively coming out. Engine is a 5.7L V8 350. im thinking its a clogged radiator but i dont have a temp gun. im ordering one today.

i think i may have found the problem

We changed out a thermo sensor near the thermo housing but no change, i think its the sensor/switch on the side of the block which is faulty. when i unplugged it, the gauge read zero. so i think its going bad or is bad and needs to be changed out. i also got the new pigtail as well. once the engine cools down im going to take off the old one and put the new one on.
Should i expect coolant to come gushing out or no?

Edit: Should have said that i did get a thermo gun and radiator had no cold spots, hoses came up to temp and the housing only read about 180-190, thermostat doesnt fully open til 195F. pretty sure the problem here is the sensor.

Alright so just an update.

Went to autozone and these geniuses gave me the same sensor i had already bought, took it back, bought the temp switch i had asked for and the guy tried to give me the same one!
So i got the temp switch and it resolved the issue. least now i know there is a coolant sensor and coolant switch. Gauge is now reading properly and never went about 210 after driving on the highway at 75.

Thanks for all the input
