Thanks everyone - appreciate it. Not sure why so many Idahoans are signing up! We have Dave Smith Motors in Kellog, Idaho nearby (where I purchased my truck), and I believe they're GM's #2 volume dealer for the entire inland NW. Dave Smith's highest volume sales is Dodge/Ram (#1 in the country) - but I don't want to talk about that!
I need to do something with my suspension soon - specifically the rear. I had a leveling kit installed when I purchased the truck to get the front end up a few inches, but the rear seems slightly less than level to me. I'd like to get the rear end up about 2" and also increase payload and maintain a better level for trailering. I have plans to get a small toyhauler or enclosed trailer soon for ATV use. I'm not that interested in air bags since I'd rather steer clear of poking holes into my frame (corrosion reasons) and also to avoid the added complexity. The add-a-leaf kits will increase height, but they won't do anything for payload. So, I contacted a big spring shop in Spokane, WA, and they gave me a quote of $375 if I bring my factory rear springs in - they will add a new spring to my current stack, then bend the springs to give the added 2" of height. They told me $750 if I drop off the truck and they do the install there. Seems pretty high to me. Anyone ever price this out?
