So i was in the process of installing step bars on my 99 silverado. The front passenger bolt i could not get out but i finally got it out today and when i looked at it there were no more threads on it. im guessing the threads are still in the hole? i believe i now have to cut on the part in the floor where the bolt threads in? im in need of some assistance, thanks guys!

try a tap first, it could save you a lot of time and money
If tapping isnt successful the next best thing would be to make a scab plate to weld over the hole, drill the center and tack weld another nut on the top of the plate before welding it over the bolt hole.
Basically making a new body mount.
Try a thread chaser to clean out any old rusted parts of the bolt. If it is stripped out completely than do as tbplus10 (Tim) said.

This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
