I just bought and installed a new spare tire hoist in my 08 suburban 2500. I was able release te cable all the way, but I can't seem to get it to retract. The cable only retracts about halfway and them jams/stops. I have tried releasing it and then trying to retract several times, but it always stops about halfway in. Anyone have this happen to them? I guess the new hoist is broken, but I don't know if I am missing something.

are you able to walk the cable back and forth a little as you retract it. not sure how the insides of those work but just make sure its not all bundling up in one spot. (unless its supposed to) also try lubing it up well when its out, may take a few times

Do you have any weight on the hoist? You might need some weight on it the first few lifts to knock off any burrs.

Interesting. I'll keep that in mind. Since I couldn't get it to work, I returned it. I'll order another one soon and if the same thing happens, I'll remember what you said about the burrs.
