I’ve got a 2009 Silverado when cold in the morning to get in gear i have to wait for it to warm up so I can take it out of park, then stablizer link and abs lights come on in the dash and stay on till I leave again what can I do with that
You know how you push the brake petal to take out of park ,well when I start it in the morning and let idle from 5 to 10 minutes before leaving and get in and push the brake to get out of park sometimes it will not change right away and when it does the stablizer link and abs lights come on ,until I turn it off and get back in to use the truck again
Just had this on my truck. It was the brake pedal switch. Ten minute job and cheap. Only use OEM switch as after market tend to go out quickly. I struggled with it for a few weeks and it finally got bad enough that it would not leave park either. Best way to temporarily get it out of park is to turn it on (not start) and shift to neutral and start from there. My brake lights also flashed only briefly before I replaced the switch. The vode I had was a C0161 if I recall correctly. Switch was only $27 Canadian.
@IanF what do you drive? I have an '09 and I think mine uses a mechanical linkage (I will check it this morning), because I've never heard a solenoid operate.
My wife's car is a Saturn/Opal and you can hear the solenoid operate when you push brake.
not sure on a 09 but I would guess the brake pedal switch on this has many switches . some work ABS and stability control as well as a solenoid to mechanically allow the shifter to shift when brake pedal is pushed down.. some times on older vehicles the linkage / solenoid can require some lube and cleaning .. My guess cheap GM electrical component the switch ..
