I have a 97 with the 5.7. If the voltage gauge doesn’t go up when I turn the key I know it won’t start. When that goes up it starts just fine. Once running, I go to drive it and when I hit the smallest bump possible it dies instantly. Thinking a spark issue but has a new distributor cap and wires. Any help is appreciated

Sounds like a loose ground or battery cable.
