Hey, I'm just the middle man in this, but this guy I know isn't very tech savvy and asked me if I could look online for some solutions to his problem.

The truck is a 1994 Chevy 1500 front wheel drive. His problem is a "sticky transmission." The "valves in the transmission are sticky." The fluids and filters have been changed. It's like the passing gear doesn't work. It will not downshift. However, once you pass about 20 MPH, the problem disappears. Anyone have any clue what's going on? Is there some additive that would fix this?

Thank you.

Is it slipping or just wont shift, sounds to me like either the piston selas may be dried and hard and after it warms up it shifts or you could have a govenor issue, or clutch material has flaked off from being burnt and is causing the volves to stick. I would first drop the pan and inspect the valve body.

A cheap try is to change the fluid and add some Lucas trans fix. It can help free sticking valves in the trans.
