has anyone ever swapped out the stupid barn doors for a tailgate and lift window? thats the only thing i dont like about my truck.... on my old truck I was able to go fish by the river, sit on my tailgate and with the window over my head stay somewhat dry in the rain... or use it as a work bench... or load the back up without everything falling out... I miss the wiper and hate the damn blind spot the barn door creats. I guess its helpful for hooking up my dump trailer but I dont need that to hook it up anymore... done it a few times lol!

so is it possible? when I look at it I think it is interchangeable... are they?

thanks guys!!!!

I am sure that it can be done. The body is the same. It will just take welding the new hinges on and cutting the old hinges off. For some reason on the 00-06 models the aftermarket tail light manufacters indicate if they are for barn door or tailgate style trucks. This leads me to believe that they are somehow different. I don't know if that is the Case for your model year

Hahahahaha Chet! you know it! lol I would have never hooked it up personally... especially for washing cloths and flushing the toilet... waste of money! if and when we own this place ill redo the plumbing cuz its a waste of money!

thanks Pikey! my barn doors bolt on, 97. burb, and one pin is broke so instead of fixing it im thinking swap it instead... I can see why they made the 2 different styles... my wife hated the tailgate, she said it was to heavy but this is my truck LOL.

thanks guys
