have you test driven it? How does it drive? Does the 4x4 work?

- Put it in 4-lo and drive around in a tight circle. Does the wheel want to pop or is it smooth?
- What type of engine/tranny does it have?
- What are the tires/wheels like?
- What other features and extras does it have? If it's the Silverado, then it's a good trim package probably.

Have not test drove it yet
it is a silverado
in four low in a tight turn the wheels should pop right?
not sure yet what engine or tran
are there ones to avoid?
does the tow pakage come with a rees hitch?
does reverse go first?

going to try to meet him later today.

Well, the silverado is a good trim package. They don't offer it anymore I don't think. What does it come with? AC, am/fm/CD, power windows, power doors, etc?

With that many miles, I assume that it's going to need some work on the engine/tranny. Unless it's a diesel, then maybe not. This is a lot of miles for a 1994, but it's not unheard of. It's a 12-year old vehicle, so it's roughly 15k/year.

The goal is that it should drive smooth and should not pop or grind when in 4-low, if it does, that's a sign of a problem with the 4WD.

Get some more information on it and let us know what you come up with. $3800 for a 4x4 isn't out of the question, actually that's probably just about what the Kelly Blue Book is going to list it for, even if it's in "fair" condition.

If it is a 1/2 ton it probably has the 5.7 liter, the 8th VIN digit would be K, and has the 4l60 trans. If so, the delay going into reverse is normal. If the left front axle seal is leaking that is an easy fix, but if it is the right side, that will require disassembly of the right axle tube. Listen while driving it, if you here a clunk during the 1-2 or 3-4 upshift that is a sign that the sun shell reaction housing is about to break. if that happens you will lose 2nd, 4th and reverse, and will reqiure rebuilding the trans. If the engine has been maintained and not abused i would not worry about the mileage. I have had customers with over 300,000 on the ticker and my personal '95 truck has 168,000 on it with no problems. One thing i would check on the engine is to see if there is antifreeze leaking at the corners of the intake manifold, front or rear. Not a major job to fix but will need attention fairly quickly.

Just bought it last night got it for $3350
took it to a local trany shop to get it looked at first. He talked alot know his how life story now. He said the trean was fine just shifting late into 3rd says it should be the tps. Although it has a little mis time to time. may couse the a bad reading to the computer? Looking at the motor the spark plugs wires were done awhile ago and they are now laying on the exhaust manifolds. so that is proply the mis. Need to do a tune up. The big problem is the short (drivers side front 1/2 axle) where it bolts to the front dif is leaking. also if you give a jerk to the output shaft/flange coming out of the diff it is loose. the book does not really say much on this. can any one help? I will post this in the help area

Thanks Shawn Moore
