Torque converters

What’s up guys I’m kind of stumped. I’m hoping I can help. I have a 1996 Silverado k1500 and a 1989 Silverado c1500, both are stock. The transmission in my 89 is giving me problems and I believe is the torque converter. Can I swap converters between the two?

Yes, they will swap. What's your issue with the 89's transmission?

To be honest, I have no idea, but I started it and got underneath and try to hear where the noise is coming from and I think it’s the torque converter.
Is it metal on metal? Before you buy a Torque Converter (or start a swap), check your flex plate. It's fairly common for them to crack and even break totally but still turn the TC.

It sounds like metal to metal.

OK, you may be able to see it if you drop the inspection cover and look up (you may need to use a bore scope), they usually crack around the 6 crank shaft bolts.
