New Year's day Burb went into limp mode. Service engine and reduced power lights came on. Stopped and checked the usual suspects. Was still idling perfect. So I disconnected the battery for a bit, unplugged and reconnected the tps at the throttle body and wiggled the wires on the pedal sensor. Hooked it back up, started it and reduced power light was out. Sel was still on but seemed to be running fine. Next day fired it up and it was fine. No lights. Went to Advance to read the codes and got three tps codes.

P1220 - Tps 2 circuit
P1221 - Tps 1-2 correlation
P1515 - Control module throttle actuator position performance

So wtf? It's running fine still. Is this just an electronic gremlin? Is one sensor bad? Or both? Or the module? At $60 a pop, I don't want to replace the sensors if they're ok. I have no idea what or where the control module is.

The sensor/motor on the throttle body is a known failure point.

There is a thread, on here, with a lot of reports
You are all over it Ray, remember to use the proper cleaner if you need to.

Thanks Chet, I was on my phone, or I would have looked it up for him
I'm not sure if this is the best string but it does talk about what to do and use. Here you go Burbman just copy and past to the search.

What is The best way to clean the throttle body without taking it out of the engine?

Ray please chime in if you think of a better one.

Ray is correct, the tb in general is a common failure point. Try pulling on the individual wires about 2 inches from the connector at the tb. See if it looks like one of the wires are broken internally. If one is you will notice the rubber of the wire stretching when you pull it. There is a YouTube video of a guy showing you how to do it. Apparently there were some bad throttle bodies and some poorly terminated wires in the harness leading to the tb

Thanks. I did search under throttle position sensor and didn't find much.

It's not the throttle, it's the throttle body, there is a "motor" on the tb that monitors the throttle position.
It's still called a throttle position sensor or tps and there's also the pedal sensor which the code referred to in "tps 1-2 correlation".

None of this refers to the throttle body so why would I search throttle body??

Have you had any continued luck?[/QUOTE]

It's been fine since.

I know that, but how would I know that you knew? I'm just making sure your at the right end of the "drive-by-wire"
I thought my first post where I mentioned unplugging the tps on the throttle body and wiggling the wires on the pedal sensor was pretty clear. In any event, it's running fine now. I'm wondering if it was just a glitch or simply unplugging and reconnecting the tps made a better connection.

I could have gone back and reread the original post, not to worry, just making sure we were on the same page.

Mine did the same, then it returned and went away, but it got to the point where it was on a lot. A new tps solved the problem.

I couldn't open it from my phone, I'll try it at my pc later in the day.
The one I was thinking about is now one page one. The thread talking about traction control and reduced power messages

Are you still cold, we are?

Yea it's still pretty cold, -20 actual tonight with a 25 MPH wind. Battery maintainers for all!

Keeping the water from freezing to the house is a big thing out here, letting it run inside a couple of places.
