I have a 1986 gmc sierra 2500 3/4 ton, used to be a daily driver for years, just recently decided to do extensive body work to it. Decided to drive it for a little bit and noticed that it takes long to get out of first into second. not in a mechanical way tho because the transmission is new that i put in about 8 months ago. its a 3 speed automatic, i think it may be a shift control problem or maybe the transmission governor? im not sure. It will keep goin in 1st gear well into high rev. kinda annoying and a waste of gas. what controls the shift timing, so i can change this?

any help would be appreciated
