My truck shut off at a stoplight and gave me a traction control and stabilitrak shut off warning. The truck would not start for 5 minutes after, then started up just fine with no warnings, however the check engine light is still on, but not the traction/stabilitrak warnings. The fluids and gauges all read okay, I have made zero modifications to the truck, and still has the stock tires on. Only has 8200 miles. Its a 2010 Silverado 1500 Z71 4x4, what is the problem?

I feel your pain. Mine did the same but no check engine light and did not shut down. Just got off phone with dealer who said it is threw only a code about the torque converter, but all appears in order. My symptoms included a very hard shift into 2nd but all cleared when truck was shut down and restarted. Wish I could help you further. If you check engine light is still on they should be able to get a code.

Yeah the problem is after a couple hours the check engine light turns off. Also my truck did this again today. Engine shut down, and the same warnings came up. "Reduced Engine power, Stabilitrak off, Traction Control off" and to service both. Taking it into a chevrolet dealership tomorrow. Seeing as how its only a year old and less than 10k miles it should be under a warranty to fix it. The engine doesnt sputter down or anything, it literally just cuts off. It must be an electrical issue rather than a mechanical, but I'm not sure.

Well, the dealership delivered my truck and, of course, the stabilitrak off warning came on twice for her on the way. Then the same thing as I was moving truck into garage. This is going to drive me crazy.
PLEASE keep me advised with what they find with your truck. My truck has only 23k miles on her and I paid far too much to have this happening. I am glad the dealership is working with me, but they are scratching thier heads too with the absence of codes. Any additional information GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Charlie

Dropped it off this morning and still waiting to hear back from them. I will let you know as soon as I do. Hopefully they can fix this problem. My truck is so new I can't believe I'm having this problem.

Hello?
Why is it people post questions about problems, and never post information about solutions?

Sorry I couldnt get back to you sooner. Had to drive across the country with my wife and newborn right to our destination in Hurricane Irene...woof.

Anyway, the issue was electrical as I thought. They replaced the PMC control module which I suppose controls the traction control, and cleared the codes. Havn't had a problem since then, but I'm gonna continue to monitor this forum to see if anyone else has an issue with this...and of course I'll be very active again if the problem arises again. Good thing for me, it was all free since my warranty covered all the parts.

Good luck, and mention that to the dealer and see what they say.

Thanks for the info. I will mention it to them. They are waiting on a data recorder to install so they can moniter all the sensor and pinpoint problem when it occurs. I'm glad I'm dealing with a quality dealership.

Data recorder in, data collected and analyzed, issue located and RESOLVED.
Turned out to be the harness behind the brake pedal motor was chafing and caused a short. It was throwing all sorts of codes for the ABS, and TCM.
I guess there is a bulletin on this 08-07-30-021F.
I am just glad to have a dealer that treats me very well.

I have a 2010 Chevy Silverado LT Crew Cab 4X4. I just experienced the rough idle (actually stopped running), "Service Stabilitrac", "Stabilitrac Off", "Traction Control Off" when truck is stopped or at very low acceleration. I was able to get the truck home...just had to keep a foot on the brake and one on the gas at stop lights. Waiting for delearship to open up in the morning so I can book it in. I love my truck, but am SO TIRED of all the problems I have had since it was new. GM came close to taking it back, but when it came down to the final appointment to prove it was "eligable" for a buy back, no codes appeared and it was running decent, so GM refused to do anything besides some oil changes and tire rotations. I hope this is a simple fix as the truck has 32,000 mi. and will soon be out of warranty.

Have them plug in the data recorder. It's beyond easy to use and will assist in finding the problem.

I just recently started hearing what sounds like a winding/clicking noise. It initially started as I would slow down. It is becoming more frequent and louder. Today the Stabilitrak lights came on and the engine shut down. I have a 2010 Tahoe with only 10,100 miles. I just had oil changed last week & no change. After reading all these posts I am thinking I may need to go back to a Toyota!

I had the same problem about 3 weeks ago. Was coming up to a light and i got 3 warnings in about 5 seconds, first was engine power reduced, then stabilitrac off, and then traction control off. i limped the truck into a parking lot and eventually got it to a dealer, couldn't go more than 15mph. Chevy dealer said it was a problem with the throttle body position cover. they replaced it and the truck has been fine since

same problem

I'm trying to help a friend diagnose the exact same problem as you guys are having. He is off warranty and has 158,000 miles.

I'd just like to comment on something that was mentioned earlier....I have never seen any forum of any type where so few people get back to the forum and post what they found their problem to be. Only two possibilities out of all these complaints! Hard to believe....
