So, Friday afternoon I started a project of replacing the broken front driver's door exterior door handle on my wife's 1999 Chevy Suburban and had the battery disconnected the whole time. FYI- the Autocraft aftermarket part from Advance Auto Parts fits better than the Dorman/Help! aftermarket part from O'Reilly Auto Parts.
I made attempts today to start her truck for her so she could run an errand. All the truck did was crank, but would not turn over and run. I hooked up the scanner tool to the connection, but there are not any codes in the system. Friday afternoon when she parked her turck it was running great as usual, What??? All this just to replace a broken door handle.

I would disconnect the battery for ten minutes, reconnect it and try again. I have had a few weird issues resolved by doing that. Next I would check for fuel pressure ( with a gauge rented from the parts store, just because there is fuel does not mean there is enough) then I would check for spark.

It would be particularly odd for the issue to be one of the two you mentioned, but, hey, the Titanic sank right?

Looking at my records the spark plugs were last changed at 105000 miles in 2007. The truck has done 64000 miles since then. Sooo, I now reckon that maybe the problem

Ok, it has to be something you've done. There is nothing inside the door that would cause this.
Could you have left something disconnected?

How did you disconnect the battery?

And the door locks ? Did they get disturbed in some manner that may have shorted out the security system once you reconnected the battery? Like Pikey and Ray just throwing that out there.

Guess what Fellers? Last night before leaving for work I decided to make another attempt at starting my wife's truck. One twist of the key and without any hesitation it fired right up. I let it run a couple of minutes and turned the truck off. Again one twist of the key and it fired right up as if nothing was ever wrong. Thanks for all the advise it is truly appreciated. I gotta look in to the security system a little deeper. I have always noticed the indicator light when the truck is first started, but never thought much of it since the truck doesn't have an alarm.
