My hydraulic lifters in my 95 Suburban 454 sound like mechanical lifters that need to be adjusted. Engine was rebuilt last year. Valve train has been noisy since. The cam is a Summit SUM-1300. I have replaced the lifters since with a set of Comp Cams lifters. Same noise. They are adjusted to 1 1/4 turn past zero lash. Oil pressure warm is 25psi at idle and 45 at cruise. Any Ideas?

What are you using for oil?

I doubt if your racing that big truck, why not use the GM recommended 10W30

Ok, but racing oil is available in 10w30; or, you could use a synthetic 10w30 and add a zinc additive to it.

I suspect if you go with a thinner oil the lifter noise will go away

I could try that but don't quite understand the reasoning. Plenty out there running 20w-50 with no lifter noise. First engine in my many years of driving to ever make this valve train noise.
