I have high expectations that within the next year or two GM is going to introduce a new line of trucks, and maybe SUV's. I was in Flint for a business trip over the easter holidays and I saw what probably is the new GMT chassis mule on 07-11 sheetmetal because of a more visible, thicker frame and what seemed like a silent engine. I then began to think about what's in store for the new GMTs and what we should expect to see.

I'll start off with engines. with the introduction of the Ecoboost V6, i think that 4.4ish Light duty diesel should be revived. It's a much better alternative to the V6 in which it has cleaner emissions, has a quieter and smoother band of power, more torque at lower RPM's, probably better MPG and range with no need for a large tank. It could blast Ford out of the water. I think GM should design a whole new V8 line too.

I don't know what to expect for exterior design, hopefully a modern brand look with a departure from conservatism, especially with Chevy and their stacked headlights, and maybe they'll try something else with the bumper rather than painted end caps. but i am expecting a Cruze/Equinox/Terrain style interior and i hope to see that beautiful brick/ebony interior color combo, and SOME NEW SEATS! the seats on the NBS are disappointingly cheap. they sag and turn light grey after 5000 miles. I love the durable, sturdy and supportive cloth seats on my wife's Terrain. Those are some great seats and show no sign of age after 15000 miles.

What are you hoping for?

I would like for the door panels to not rattle after 20k miles, some down/up hill assist options in Z71 models along with some better wheel wells so you can fit 33's with out lifting the truck. And a roll down rear window like the toyota's have would be pretty sweet too!

I like everyone else's ideas so far! A lot of those things I've been wishing they had to! Especially the roll down rear window, bigger wheel wells, a light under the hood and something bada$$ to compete with the raptor!!!!!

And more diesel power! :)

I hope the front end doesn't look as "fat", the front of the NNBS is all bumper right now. I'd also like to see them open up the fenders a little, there is almost a foot of clearance at the top of the tire and only an inch or two front and rear. I'd also like to see a real Silverado SS and by that I mean lowered and supercharged like the Lightning's were, I know that's a pipe dream but it sure would be nice!

Definitely need a new 2 door. They built a concept a number of years ago, but must've buried it. I also agree with the wheel wells. They're built for something other than tires now. How about just simply offering some of the options that make the trucks look great at a reasonable price. The price tags on these trucks are out of control.

agreed on that. if you buy one even 2 or 3 years old you can get 15k off list of a SLT/LTZ style truck.

i paid just under 19k for mine, and its 6 years old. list on it was 43k, back in 05.

one thing Id like to see is this, get any option with any package, want a LTZ cloth? fine. want a one ton diesel leather two wheeler, fine. any options with any package.

reason i say this is cause i did some looking at the dealer, aparently GM now just was the WT, LS, LT, LTZ trim pack now, no LT1, LT2 and to top it all off, you now HAVE to buy a LT to get a Z71 package. changed that in 2010. base LT with Z71? 43,00 before incentives and so on. but a LS with plain old 4x4 can be had for 31 and change.

why do I have to spend 10 grand to get a 1500 dollar option? (not sure if thats how much it is, cant remember the option sheet prices.)

makes me like my 03 that much more, was a base LS with Z71, just what I wanted at the time. Not what GM decided I wanted.

Bring back the the Syclone/Typhoon (like that'll ever happen)! It would be nice to see a real SS to rival SRT-10's and Lightning's and a 4WD to rival the Raptor. Unfortunately don't see that happening either.

Agreed with bringing back something like the syclone / typhoon. GM used such innovative, almost unheard-of technology in the early 90's when those came out, and made a lot of power off a small engine, and yet today they are still using the same pushrod v8's they've been using since like 2000. i'd like to see a whole new line of v8's (not that theres anything wrong with the current ones, just they have been used for a while and are capable of more) that use DOHC, VVT and direct injection...which would squeeze so much more power out of em you wouldn't even need a v8 in a full-size. i'd also like to see some sort of twin-turbo'ed smaller motor to compete with ford's offerings with the ecoboost motors, and diesel offerings! also, these taxes need to come down on diesel, there is no reason a fuel that is more crude than gasoline costs more. just my opinion.
