What to do with exhaust?

Its stock right now. Dont want it real loud, just a nice grumble. Did you guys remove it from the Ypipe back or after that thing that I'm assuming is a resonator? also, is that flex pipe necessary? I'm kinda thinking about just goin straight all the way back then if its too loud throw a magnaflow in there.

Or is the straight just gonna be way too loud?

Thanks in advance

The flex pipe comes off on a catback system. I just installed a Borla dual exhaust and love it. What motor do you have?

oh good question, its a 5.3

I'm just having a hard time justifying a cat back system when it costs upwards of $800. I could get a custom job done for less than half that.
I got the Borla cheaper than that, but not half. If you can get a custom job have you considered doing anything custom with the exit? I saw a truck with the exhaust out the rear quarters on Gearz or Trucks. Or, if you go straight out the back you could bring them through the bumper.
In the past I have had Corsa and Volant cat backs and 3 different custom set ups. Coras was upwards of a grand and Volant was around 800 and the customs were no more than 300 and sounded great. If you are looking at having a shop build you an exhaust look into the SLP Loudmouth II. It has a really nice tone and will not be too loud for you.
