Mine finally gave up and broke. After 293k miles and a lot of open and close cycles, I am not surprised. The buffeting is like riding in a subwoofer enclosure unless I roll one of the windows down a bit and I'd like to find a NOS replacement unit, if the price isn't borderline insanity. Any sources? Otherwise, I suppose I could hit the local yards and try to find one that has some life left in it. I carry wood and pipe on my roof rack, so I would like to avoid one of the aftermarket units as I am confident that I would quickly find a way to break that ;)

I carry some 2x material and some pipe up there on a fairly regular basis and anything that sticks up is probably going to bite the dust in short order. I may try to bond some spring steel where it broke. It won't last forever, but if I don't have to mess around with it more often than every few years I'll be happy. They are pretty easy to get on and off of the assembly. It is just a matter of finding time to stop everything and fiddle around with it.
