*Yikes* Missing 3rd Row Seat! And Brackets! And Seatbelts!!! [Expired Topic]

So, the hubby and I finally figured out which year(s) of Suburban we wanted, with the 6.5 Turbo Diesel... then we proceeded to find a pretty good deal on a '95 with only 92,000 miles on it... so we're happy, right?

Well, we knew, going into the deal, that there wasn't a 3rd row bench... but we figured 'no biggie, we can find one of those'. The guy selling the Burb to us didn't really realize that he was wrong when he told us it was set up for putting in a 3rd row seat. Until we saw pictures of the cargo area (doing this over the internet), and realized that the only hardware back there are the tie-down points for the cargo net! Not good.

We still want to go ahead with the deal, cuz we are very happy with the vehicle overall, but with six kids to tote around, we've gotta figure out how to set this thing up to take a 3rd row seat. I'm HOPING and PRAYING that some peeps here might have some suggestions/input for us.

In looking at a friend's Burb, I'm wondering if there is a chance that the 'hook up points', the little wells with the bar going across inside of it, might just be underneath the carpeting? And I'm also wondering if the anchor points, for the seatbelts, are still on the frame, just hidden under the plastic molding? Or are we going to have to find these things at a junkyard and have them welded in or something?

Again... any input would be very much appreciated! Thanks!!! :D

Not sure about them being under the rug, all mine had the seat in them.

But putting them in shouldn.t be a real problem. If you can weld you can do it yourself. If not just pull the rug up and bring it in to a body shop. Rip the rug up to make the job quiker at the body shop, less time they spend the less it will cost you.
#rd seat

What color/covering are you looking for. I have a 94 K1500, and I have used the 3rd seat maybe 3 times in 13 years. It is gray leather. Interested?
fiero ~ yeah, at first we thought it was a big problem... but I just feel the vehicle, overall, is such a good one, I hate to pass it up for this. I figure if you've got someone who knows how to do this kind of stuff, it shouldn't be a big deal or cost us too much. My husband thinks that, between himself and the guys at work/here in town, we could probably do it ourselves. If the hook up points aren't already in the body of the truck, we will probably have to check out the salvage yards to find them, and then weld them in.

Thanks for the tip on pulling up the rug first, if we do end up taking it in somewhere.

I think the biggest challenge might be the seatbelts, but maybe that's not such a biggie, either.

dbledsoe ~ thanks for the offer, I wish I could take you up on it! The rest of the vehicle is tan/beige. If it weren't in such good condition, and if there weren't a tan/beige seat on eBay right now, I would probably be somewhat interested, but I think we're gonna spend the $$ to try and get a good match. Sorry. :(

I've put seatbelts into vehicles before. Not a big issue. It's probably already setup if you had the option for shoulder belts on the sides, otherwise lap belts are a breeze.
Six-pac, don't know if this is too late, but I am looking to do the same as you only with a Tahoe. I saw brackets on ebay that will just bolt to the floor. Most of the seats I've seen there, have belts built in. My rig is a '95 aswell.
good luck

Very cool. How much were they selling for on eBay? My brother is looking for something like this as well for his Yukon.
I’m not sure but I believe shoulder belt are a necessity if the rest of the truck has them.
