I have changed the lock cyl and it was good for 4 days and then it started again. Truck has 261,000 miles on the 5.3 engine and auto transmission. Any ideas or solutions? Maybe the ignition switch?

If you have a "flashing security light" you are in a 10 minute fuel system lockout. You have a Passlock 2 system failure.

It is very rarely the lock cylinder.

First, the simple step, remove the upper (or the complete) steering column cover.

Find the tiny 3 wire connector attached to the ignition cylinder housing. Remove the 3 wire male connector out of the housing.

Remove only 1 wire at a time out of the male connector using small like sewing needle device to release the female pin. Find a small pair on needle nose pliers and "gently squeeze" the female connector smaller. After you done, ...reinstall it back into the connector. Do it for the other 2 wires.

As a final step, find a "very small" nylon tie strap, ...cut about 3/4's of an inch or slightly smaller and wedge the point end into the side of the installed 3 pin connector.

After you done, the truck should start. If not, replace the Passlock 2 ignition cylinder housing which means tearing the whole upper half of the steering column. When you do that, the battery "must" be disconnected as not to deploy the air bag.
