Alarm / Security auto-arming timing issues - 98 Suburban

I recently inherited a 98 Suburban 2500 with some really annoying factory alarm quirks -- and am trying to see if the timings can be changed.

As soon as a door (or hood) is open, this wants to arm in like 10 seconds. I can't change the oil without the alarm going off in my face, can't take groceries or unload the car without the alarm going off. It's super annoying.

Are there any tweaks that can be made to increase the time before the alarm auto-arms?

Thanks! Help appreciated--

That's got to be an aftermarket alarm. The factory alarm in that year never auto-armed. It also didn't have a hood pin to know when the hood was open. There may be an aftermarket alarm that is tied into the factory remotes somehow, but it's not factory.

Look under the dash and you will most likely find a loose box tucked into the wiring harness somewhere that's the real alarm.

There also should be a small box/part of the alarm that has 2 adjustments on it. U will c the one u want to turn clockwise to delay the alarm longer. Or u can reset the key dongle. Turn the ignition on just before the lights come on to start. Push the cancel-override button 5 times. This should reset the system. If not, take to audio/alarm shop and have them set it where u want. Probably cost u a 50.
